WoW has 10 races, five for each faction. The Alliance races are the Draenei, Dwarves, Gnomes, Humans, and Night Elves. The Horde spawned the Blood Elves, Orcs, Taurens, Trolls and Undead. Each race has its own special strengths which help to improve the class and professions a player chooses. The race you pick will show what the bonuses are for each one and what classes are available for you to choose.
The Draenei get a bonus to the jewelcrafting skill, have a racial healing, improved chance to hit their enemies and they can resist Shadow spells. Dwarves get Stoneform, Gun Specialization, Frost Resistance and Find Treasure. Gnomes have Escape Artist, Expand Mind, resist Arcane spells and get a bonus to engineering. Humans detect Stealth more easily, get an increase in Spirit, gain Reputation faster, get a bonus with swords and maces and can keep their movement from being impaired. Night Elves enjoy the racial bonuses of Shadowmeld, Elusiveness, Quickness, Wisp Spirit and resist Nature spells.
Blood Elves can silence their enemies, increase their enchanting skill and decrease their chance of being hit by magic. Orcs get an increase to their attack or spell power, arent Stunned for as long, have a bonus for axes and their pets do greater damage. Taurens can stun 5 enemies at once, have higher Health, their Herbalism skill is higher and they resist Nature spells better. The Trolls go Berserk, heal quicker, damage beasts worse, throw weapons and use bows better plus recover faster from movement impairments. Undead are cannibals, breath underwater, cant be mind controlled and resist Shadow spells.
All ten races in WoW have unique abilities that should be taken into consideration before making a character. Some races stand out as being sneakier, better magic wielders, burlier fighters or well suited to being part magic user and part soldier. Whatever you want to play in whatever type of realm, there is always the opportunity to make more characters of different races so you can enjoy them all and never run out of experiences or chances to expand your gaming.
